RED DEER – The Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL) playoffs are in full swing across all three divisions, as teams work their way towards their respective Provincial Championship Tournaments.
U18 AAA
The U18 AAA Championship Final is nearly set, with the St. Albert Raiders and Fort Saskatchewan Rangers facing off in a decisive game five of their third round series on Wednesday at 7:15pm in Fort Sask. The winner will face The Calgary Buffaloes in the finals, who defeated the NWCAA Flames in four games in their semi-final matchup.
U16 AAA
With both play-in series complete, the U16 AAA playoffs get into full swing as of Wednesday, with sixteen teams squaring off in best-of-three series to move on to the second round. The SSAC Bulldogs and AC Avalanche both won their respective play-ins to claim the final two playoff spots, and will play the top team in their division. The winner of each series will advance to the next round, where eight teams will battle for a spot in the U16 AAA Provincial Championships, which runs April 7-10 in Grande Prairie. The second round of the U15 AAA playoffs also kick off Wednesday night, with eight teams battling to advance to the U15 AAA Provincial Championship sin Fort Sask, which runs March 24-27. Each series is a best-of-three. The second round matchups are:
