Round 2 of the AEHL U15 AAA Playoffs featured four best-of-three matchups with Provincial Championship spots on the line. After a competitive round, the St. Albert Sabres, KC Squires, Red Deer Rebels, and Lethbridge Golden Hawks have all punched their tickets to the 2026 Provincial Championships.
St. Albert Sabres vs LJAC Oil Kings
The St. Albert Sabres advanced with a two-game sweep over the LJAC Oil Kings. St. Albert opened the series with a convincing 6–1 win in Game 1 before closing things out in dramatic fashion with a 4–3 overtime victory in Game 2.
Sherwood Park Flyers vs KC Squires
The KC Squires rallied to win their series in three games against the Sherwood Park Flyers. After falling 4–3 in Game 1, the Squires responded with a 3–2 double overtime victory in Game 2 and followed it up with a 3–1 win in Game 3 to advance.
Red Deer Rebels vs Calgary Flames
The Red Deer Rebels delivered a dominant performance in their series against the Calgary Flames, sweeping the matchup with a 6–3 win in Game 1 and a decisive 9–1 victory in Game 2.
Okotoks Oilers vs Lethbridge Golden Hawks
The Lethbridge Golden Hawks also needed three games to secure their Provincial berth. Lethbridge opened the series with a 6–1 win in Game 1, dropped Game 2 by a 4–3 score, and then responded with a 5–0 victory in Game 3 to move on.
With the second round complete, the St. Albert Sabres, KC Squires, Red Deer Rebels, and Lethbridge Golden Hawks will compete at the AEHL U15 AAA Provincial Championships, hosted by the Sherwood Park Flyers in Ardrossan from March 19–22.
The Red Deer Rebels will be making their third consecutive Provincial Championship appearance as the defending champions and will look to repeat their title run. The KC Squires last appeared at the Provincial tournament in 2024, while the Lethbridge Golden Hawks return to Provincials for the first time since 2016 when they captured the gold medal. The St. Albert Sabres continue their impressive streak, qualifying for their fifth consecutive Provincial Championship and having most recently won gold in 2024. With all four teams bringing significant Provincial experience, the stage is set for a highly competitive tournament.
