AEHL U18 AAA Playoffs: Round 2 Recap

Round 2 of the AEHL U18 AAA Playoffs is complete, and the Division Finals are now set.

With all four semifinal series played in a best-of-three format, teams battled for a spot in the next round and the opportunity to move one step closer to the AEHL championship. When the series wrapped up, two teams from each division advanced to compete for a place in the league final.

North Division

Edmonton Jr. Oilers Blue sweep Sherwood Park Kings (2–0)

The Edmonton Jr. Oilers Blue secured their spot in the North Division Final with a two-game series win over the Sherwood Park Kings.

Edmonton opened the series with a 4–1 victory in Game 1 before sealing the series in dramatic fashion with a 4–3 overtime win in Game 2.

Fort Saskatchewan Rangers defeat St. Albert Raiders (2–1)

The Fort Saskatchewan Rangers and St. Albert Raiders delivered the tightest series of the round.

Fort Saskatchewan captured Game 1 with a 4–1 win, but St. Albert responded in Game 2 with a 4–3 overtime victory to force a deciding Game 3. In the final game of the series, the Rangers regained control with another 4–1 win to advance.

With the victory, Fort Saskatchewan moves on to face Edmonton Jr. Oilers Blue in the North Division Final.

South Division

Calgary Flames sweep Calgary Royals (2–0)

The Calgary Flames advanced to the South Division Final after a two-game series win over the Calgary Royals.

Calgary opened the matchup with a 5–1 win in Game 1 and followed it up with a 5–2 victory in Game 2 to complete the sweep.

Calgary Northstars sweep Calgary Buffaloes (2–0)

The series between the Calgary Northstars and the Calgary Buffaloes delivered plenty of drama.

Game 1 required double overtime before the Northstars secured a 2–1 victory. Calgary followed it up with another overtime thriller in Game 2, edging the Buffaloes 4–3 to complete the series sweep and advance.

Division Finals Set

The Division Finals begin Tuesday, March 10, with a berth in the AEHL championship series on the line.

North Division Final
