The Alberta Elite Hockey League is pleased to announce Bradley Gallo (St. Albert Nektar Raiders – U18 AAA), Ty Gordon (CAC Gregg Distributors – U17 AAA), and Ty Meunier (St. Albert Gregg Distributors Sabres – U15 AAA) as the Source for Sports Players of the Month for October.
U18 AAA – Bradley Gallo (Forward – St. Albert Nektar Raiders)
St. Albert Nektar Raiders forward Bradley Gallo has begun the season on a goal-scoring tear, recording nine goals in eight games, including one hat trick. Gallo also added two assists for a total of 11 points in October, which has helped lead the Raiders to a tie for the lead in the U18 AAA North Division.
“Bradley has had a stellar start to the season and has come up big in clutch moments. He is currently tied for the league lead in goals at 9. However he has accomplished this in just 8 games, which is two less games then his closest competition,” said Head Coach Jack Redlick. “He has been able to produce in all aspects of the game with three of his goals coming on the PP, one shorthanded, and three game winning goals. All of which have helped the Raiders to first place in the North Division.”
U17 AAA – Ty Gordon (Forward – CAC Gregg Distributors)
Ty Gordon, the CAC Gregg Distributors forward, has been putting up points in bunches to start the season. He started off with a six-point game on October 15 and later added a five-point game, along with multiple other games of three and two points for a total of 18 points in seven games, which was tops in the league.
“Ty’s stats speak for themselves. He’s a league leader in goals, assist, and points,” said CAC Head Coach Tony Orsini. “It’s what Ty provides in the room that has made him a special player, even though Ty does not wear a letter, he’s a true leader on and off the ice. He continues to be a positive influence with our younger players and is a continually trying to improve his game.”
U15 AAA – Ty Meunier (Forward – St. Albert Gregg Distributors Sabres)
Sabres forward Ty Meunier has gotten out of the gates strong this season. He is currently tied for second in the league in points with 27, and leads the league in goals with 16 in just ten games. His October scoring spree was highlighted by an eight point game and he manages to score a point in every game throughout the month. His contributions have helped the Sabres to the top of the U15 AAA North Division.
“Ty has had an outstanding start to the year. Our team has played 9 league games and 6 tournament games this month. Throughout the month Ty has been an outstanding teammate. He is positive and always happy to see his teammates succeed as well. Ty is committed to being the best player he can over 200 feet. He is offensively gifted and takes pride in being responsible defensively as well,” said Head Coach Geoff Giacobbo.
“Ty is a huge part of our leadership group both on and off the ice. We can always rely on Ty to be a great role model with our team and throughout the community. Ty volunteers with the U11 program in St. Albert, maintains very good marks and has taken our junior coach (a 13 year old boy who has endured 2 kidney transplants) under his wing. At each team function Ty goes out of his way to make sure the team is including Ben, our junior coach. Ty’ s work ethic, character and compassion are three traits that make him and outstanding human being. The fact hat he is an excellent hockey player is a bonus.”
