The 2023 Alberta Elite Hockey League U18 AAA provincial champions are the Calgary (NW) Flames.
In a best-of-five series, the Flames swept the St. Albert Nektar Raiders, taking game 3 on Wednesday night, 4-1, in St. Albert.
The series began in St. Albert on March 23, where the Flames won 4-3. In game two at home, the Flames won, 5-3. In regular season, the Flames finished second overall in the South Division. They overcame the Calgary Royals and Calgary Buffaloes in playoffs, before facing the Raiders.
The Flames will now host the Pacific Regional Championships versus the British Columbia champion, Okanagan Rockets, in Calgary, April 7-9.
Whoever wins the series will represent the Pacific Region at the 2023 Men’s U18 National Club Championship. Nationals are slated for April 24-30 in Saint-Hyacinthe, Que.
The AEHL will cap off the Hockey Alberta Provincial Championships presented by ATB with the U17 AAA tournament April 6-9 in St. Albert.
