Mason McDougall and Evan Wandler exemplify leadership and compassion both on and off the ice. While both goaltenders play key roles for the Calgary Northstars, their dedication to supporting others in the community is what truly sets them apart. Evan and Mason have been deeply involved with Hero’s Hockey, contributing through fundraising efforts, personal donations, and hands-on volunteer work. Their efforts have helped raise tens of thousands of dollars, providing children in the program with opportunities such as attending an annual out-of-town tournament—an experience that many of these participants would not otherwise have the chance to enjoy.
Beyond their fundraising contributions, Mason and Evan also volunteer their time on the ice, skating alongside Hero’s Hockey participants and building meaningful relationships. Their presence creates unforgettable experiences for the kids involved, offering encouragement, mentorship, and a sense of belonging. The two have also supported the Be A Budd initiative by volunteering at events, participating in a volunteer fair alongside founder Ryley Budd, and helping expand awareness and sponsorship opportunities for the program.
