AEHL U18 AAA Playoffs – Weekend Recap

The division finals are currently underway in the Alberta Elite Hockey League’s U18 AAA division. Here is where each series stands heading into tonight’s game four in the best-of-five series.

North Division – Sherwood Park Ennis Kings leads Edmonton Jr. Oilers Orange, 2-1

Following a 4-2 win in Game 1, Sherwood Park had a stranglehold on the series after winning Game 2 by a score of 3-2. Hudson Landmark, Ty Rayan and Finn McGhie all scored in the victory for the Kings, while Jace McFaul scored both of Edmonton’s goals.

Facing elimination in Game 3, the Jr. Oilers Orange fought back into the series, winning 7-2. Rockston Ror-Chow (2), Jacob Loewen (2), Ahmed Assaf, Brec Christenson and Cole Serdachny scored in the win. Landmark and Aidan Veldman scored the lone two goals for Sherwood Park.

Sherwood Park looks to punch their ticket to the finals tonight at 7:30 pm at Randy Rosen Rink.

South Division – Calgary Buffaloes leads Calgary NW Flames, 2-1

After dropping Game 1 in a 6-1 loss, the Flames rebounded in Game 2, tying the series with a 5-2 win. Luke Wong (2), Matthew Balderston, Carson Cull and Nathan Ivey all scored for the Flames, while Diego Cazac and Cooper Williams had the only answers for the Buffaloes.

Things shifted in Game 3 as the Buffaloes took the series lead with a 3-1 win. Brayden Gourley (2) and Williams scored in the win, while the lone Flames goal came from Owen Folstrom.

The Buffaloes look to wrap up the series tonight at 6 pm at Father Bauer Arena.
