The 2009 Provincial Championship featured the North and South winning teams from the amalgamated Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League (AMMHL) for the inaugural 2008-09 season.In the previous two Provincials, Minor Midget AAA was a round robin tournament between the host, and the 3 winners from the old RAMHL, SAML and REMHL leagues.
