22nd ANNUAL ALL-STAR GAME
January 23, 2011 at the Jubilee Arena in Fort Saskatchewan.
The Alberta ‘AAA’ Midget Hockey League held its 22nd Annual All Star Game and Skills Competition this past weekend in the Jubilee Recreation Center home of the Fort Saskatchewan Boston Pizza Rangers. On Saturday evening the skills competition was held between the competing Dodge and Chrysler Division teams.
The fastest skater was Connor Hartley from the Red Deer Optimist Rebels. Defenseman Troy Gedney of Medicine Hat Midget Tigers fired the hardest shot (93 mph). The Chrysler Division won the shootout and the relay race. In the target shooting Jetlan Houcher of the Lloydminster Baker Hughes Bobcats fired 3 pucks into the net in the allotted 30 seconds. The Dodge Division stars also won the 3 on 3 scrimmage event, 5-4.
Sunday afternoon in a highly entertaining and spirited contest, before 512 fans, Team Source for Sports from the Chrysler Division edged Team Easton from the Dodge Division 5-4 on a last minute goal by third star Cole Ully from the Calgary Flames. Morgan Klimchuk, the game’s first star, a member of the Calgary Buffaloes, led the way with a goal and 2 assists. This was the South Division’s 10th victory in the history of the event. The second star was Giovanni Bombini who led the Dodge Division with two goals. All three stars received gifts from the Western Hockey League and the Source for Sports Dealers of Alberta.
