WELCOME TO THE ALBERTA ELITE HOCKEY LEAGUE!

Hussain, Borrelli named Humanitarians of the Month for November

The Alberta Elite Hockey League and Alberta Female Hockey League are proud to announce the Humanitarians of the Month for the Month of November.

AFHL:

Ujaala Hussain (U13 AA Wood Buffalo Huskies)

Ujaala, now an AFHL player from the Wood Buffalo Huskies, donated 14 inches of her hair three times to make wigs for children and patients with cancer. She has raised over $11,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. She also bikes annually for kids’ cancer (The Great Cycle Challenge) and has biked almost 500 kilometres with her family since 2020. Along the way, she has raised over $16,600.

Ujaala has worked with a Canadian charity for girls’ education and empowerment in Pakistan for four years now (The Citizen Foundation of Canada). She also works occasionally with Girls Inc., Human Concern International, and the Food Bank.

Ujaala has been playing hockey for 8 years, and she has played on the female competitive team (Wood Buffalo Huskies) for 5 years, where she was in a leadership role last year. She is a referee as well. She is determined to continue hockey and her humanitarian activities.

AEHL:

Paulo Borrelli (U18 AAA Edmonton Jr Oilers Orange).

Borrelli has distinguished himself as a standout community volunteer and team leader this year, demonstrating a genuine commitment to making a positive impact both on and off the ice. His involvement with the Edmonton Humane Society, his participation in the Jr. Oilers’ Cup, and his hands-on support with community leaf-raking initiatives highlight his willingness to give back and connect with those around him. Paulo brings the same enthusiasm and integrity to his volunteer work as he does to the dressing room, where he is known as a steady, positive presence for his teammates.

Wearing the “A” as an assistant captain, he leads by example, showing consistent character, compassion, and a readiness to step up wherever he’s needed. His contributions reflect not only his leadership but also his dedication to helping build a stronger, more supportive community.
